Raku Crackle Lighthouse

This lighthouse was made in 2 parts: the railing and dome were wheel thrown and then attached to the separately thrown main cylinder. The dome can be removed for candles. This piece is created by raku firing, in an intensely hot and oxygen-starved atmosphere. The clay and glazes are forced to create their own oxygen, resulting in the intense crackles of the clay and the moody rustic look of the railings.
