Offering candles to Freyja: Norse goddess of love, fertility, battle, and prophecy.  She who shines over the sea. Freyja was said to be one of the most beautiful women in Norse mythology. According to Judika Illes, she was the daughter of Njord, god of water, and Herta, goddess of the earth. Her, along with her siblings Freyr and Njordr, were sent to live with the Aesir as part of a truce between the two warring groups of deities. Freyja was gifted in her natural talent for creating potions and spells, and was soon deemed to be goddess of witches. Some say she even taught Odin how to use and read runes herself.  In many norse stories, she is a tactical warrior and the leader of the Valkryies. She is said to lead them into the battlefield with rage and glory. Also being known as the goddess of death, those who have died on the battlefield are taken to her palace known as Folkvang. It is said that there is always a soft, loving song being played throughout her palace grounds.  Evoke Frey
