Hel

 Devotional candles for Hel: Norse goddess of the Underworld. Her birth is debated amongst many, but one commonly known myth is that she is the youngest child of Loki, the trickster god, and the giantess Angrboda. She is depicted as being half corpse and half human: one side of her is rotting while the other is flourishing with radiant health. In one myth, Odin, the All Father and the chief of the Aesir, threw Hel down from the sky into the depths of the underworld from fear of her parentage and other prophecies regarding the role she would play in chaos and destruction. Hel embraced her new world and turned it into her own realm and crowned herself Queen of Helheim.  Helheim, in some tales, was generally described in neutral or sometimes even positive terms, as there was no punishment or reward for moral behaviors for the souls of the dead.
