Ares

Offering candles to Ares, Greek god of war and battle, the Father of victories. He is one of the Twelve Olympian gods and is the son of Zeus and Hera, although one version suggests that he was born from Hera alone.  He is known for his aggressive and warlike nature, and he enjoys the chaos and destruction of battle. Despite his hot-headed tendencies, he has a caring side as well, being a devoted father to his daughter Alkippe and defending her from sexual assaulters. He is one of the few gods that fully accepts gender equality and is not ashamed to fight alongside a woman. He encourages Aphrodite’s warrior aspects and lends her his own war-chariot to ride in whenever she desires.  Ares' Roman equivalent is Mars, who also embodies the same characteristics of warfare and military prowess.  Burn these tapers outside your doors or inside your living space for protection and to and chase enemies away.
