The Green Man

The Green Man is the symbol of irrepressible life. He is the spirt that stirs the primal urge to grow and renew. No one knows exactly where he originated from, and though his roots stretch deep pre-Christianity, it is now in the shadowed arches of Gothic cathedrals that he lingers. Carved into the stone of sacred places, his visage watches over the faithful, his foliage-bound face a reminder of forgotten ways. He can be found in the hallowed halls of Bamberg, Chartres, Dijon, Norwich, and Fribourg, his presence a silent testament to old magic, to old rites.
