Also available as museum-quality posters. Perfection is overrated! This Rose, like so many of us, shows some weathering. Such is the nature of Roses in the summer heat. A fresh sprinkling of Pacific Northwest rains adds character and the sense of rejuvenation. By August, we are all feeling the heat. Roses too. I usually visit the garden in the early morning. It is a perfect opportunity to talk with plants. There are very few other visitors. It is a true mediation with the roses. In June and July, this early schedule is a preference, but by August it is a necessity. The garden has an incredible view to the east. An incredible view of the sunrise. Or if you turn around, facing the roses, as I do, the light gets very intense, very quickly after sunrise. Especially in late summer. So, I am on a clock from the moment I arrive. A race against the sun’s rise. But even an experienced garden visitor, has to stop sometimes. This beauty was near the end of my visit. It was getting hotter. I was feeling the heat and the time ticking by. In fact, I was rushing just a little. I love to take it slowly and nearly converse with each rose. But, once the sun is rising, my focus tends more to the time and the rising sun. I was deep in the rows and thorns, when I turned a corner and stopped short. It had been very hot that week and there had been an overnight rain. Just a sprinkle, but enough. Enough to clear the air and perk everything up. And also make some really, good sloshy spots in the garden. As I turned the corner and just about lost my footing and my balance to the mud, I swore. Yes, I swore. Not at my balance nor my shoes nor the mud. But, at the incredible joy that was right in front of me. This rose had everything: the comfort of being wrapped in a center of soft, gentle love, weathering from the world and still a sprinkling of thankfulness from the night’s rain. It was all there, and it was even in the shadows (hence the mud). Perfection is showing up. Perfection is taking joy in surviving, then wearing it with pride. This baby does that so well. My swearing aside, I hope you find joy in being wrapped up in these gorgeous petals. Shake the mud off your shoes, hike your shoulders back. The world is waiting. Thanks for letting me share with you. These high quality paper cards come pre-folded, packed in cello sleeves, and includes a white envelope for each card. Available in packs of 5, 10, & 25.
