Table Lamp from Antique Rozenburg—Juliana
Meet Juliana! She is a one-of-a-kind lamp lovingly handcrafted from a rare, antique (circa 1914), hand-painted Rozenburg art pottery vase. Rozenburg is one of the most famous pottery factories in the Netherlands. The Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg, as the factory in The Hague was officially called, produced ceramics from 1883 to 1917. Rozenburg pottery and porcelain are considered one of the highlights of the Art Nouveau movement in the Netherlands. Rozenburg is renowned worldwide for the eggshell porcelain that the factory introduced in 1900 at the World Exhibition in Paris. The Rozenburg factory made revolutionary designs in free, expressive forms for that time. The pottery painters were also inspired by Eastern art and the Arts and Crafts movement from Great Britain. It is mainly dark floral motifs that characterize the first period of the factory.
