Anne Wolf | Mokume Hideaway

Artist: Anne Wolf, CaliforniaMaterials: sterling silver, copper, brassSize: 9.5 Artist Statement: Whimsy is not normally the first word that comes to mind when describing my work. My custom mokume gane rings are simple but classic bands; made exactly to each customer's specifications. My 'larger' works, vessels and boxes, are generally restrained, symmetrical, quiet objects. But every now and then, I am inspired to break out and go a little crazy. Mokume Hideaway is a place to escape to, to draw and daydream, free of the cares and responsibilities of everyday life. This slightly quirky construction is loosely based on the traditional gassho-zukuri thatch houses in the Gifu region of Japan. Artist Bio: I earned my Masters of Fine Art in Jewelry/Metals at San Diego State University, and taught jewelry/metals at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA for 10 years.
