Also known as the longest beetle species in the world, its largest recorded size is 181mm. The male adults of this species feature long horns, which can occasionally equal or even surpass their body length. As with other rhino beetle species, the female Dynastes hercules does not possess any horns. Primarily feeds on rotten hardwood or flake soil. Beetle larvae go through 3 different larval phases: L1, L2, and L3. After the L3 stage, the larva pupates to turn into an adult beetle!
