Out of Darkness Wall Hanging

This vision of darkness surrounding me kept playing around in my head for months, but it wasn't just the darkness. It was the two birds that had their wings flying upward and out of the darkness, too. These framed wall hangings are apart of the "Out of Darkness" collection. The birds are made using a technique called, foundation paper piecing which uses a paper pattern to sew the design, then the paper is removed. I chose 1/2 square triangles of "black on black fabric" to surround the block. It is hand quilted with a shimmering black metallic thread to look reminiscent of rain.   I hope that whatever you might be going through, despite the darkness that is surrounding you, you too can fly out of the darkness.
