Rocks 24x30 inches

Painting rocks is a nice change for me, because unlike the gestural shapes of organic plants and trees, the geometric shapes of rocks are flat and rigid. To make them look like they're jutting into and out of the earth, I used swift vertical and horizontal brush strokes to create surface tension on my canvas, and to add visual excitement. I also added subtle purple, green, red and orange hues onto the granite to make it appear as colorful as it really is!
