FICM testing consists of verifying that the Fuel Injector Control Module fires all 8 injectors, runs an Injector Buzz Test to see if it is throwing any trouble codes, and checking the output voltage, input voltage, current, and waveforms to the injectors with an oscilloscope. There is an inductive cycle that runs on key on engine off to prevent stiction in the spool valves in the injectors. We run an inductive test on every testing order to check for low voltage. As the FICM ages, the current output drops due to drift in the tolerances of various components. The oscilloscope checks show the degree to which the FICM has lost performance and can show injector misfires.
