About the Suite Hazelhurst Suite is a five movement work for unaccompanied double bass. The original concept of this piece was as a set of 45-60 second vignettes to serve as incidental music for a stage production of the play Crimes of the Heart, presented in 2011 by the Bunbury Theater of Louisville, KY. I reworked the themes into a concert suite in 2012 and it has been a popular selection since that time, appearing on concerts and recital programs throughout the country. Each movement is a musical representation which captures the dramatic essence of a particular scene of the play. -Sidney King About the Composer Sidney King’s multi-faceted career as a double bassist spans over four decades.
