INFORMATION TASTING NOTES VARIETIES Sergio Guttierez is the owner of Finca Volcancitos. He’s also the owner of a trucking business that hauls massive pine logs down from the mountains to his dad’s saw mill. It’s a unique landscape for coffee in my experience, growing amongst towering pine and maple trees. The farm is in a region called Nueva Segovia, which was a stronghold for the reigning political party’s national hero, General Sandina. The general rallied a militia in the pine-studded mountains to defend his nation against foreign invasion by the US Marines; to defend his land from being denuded of lumber and stripped of minerals by US businessmen.
