Thick, fleshy spined leaves form rosettes on the stalk. Younger plants have more spines. Aloe ferox flowers resemble candelabras with spikes of orange to scarlet racemes. Cape aloe grows in rocky, dry, full-sun environments with good drainage.South African tribes have traditionally exploited cape aloe's healing powers.
