A tiedye representation of the 2011 Joplin tornado. Survivor accounts young and old recall "Butterfly People" protecting and carrying people away. Some would call them angels. That's for you to decide.. either way, it was a day that forever changed countless lives in southwest Missouri. I've witnessed firsthand the metamorphosis our community went through, I can never forget it. The great pain and loss of that day transformed our community. We came together in a way that gives me hope for humanity. May this piece of art represent that story and be a reminder to us what the world can be like when we all come together in love and unity, that God give purpose to our pain.
