Abstract Tail No.1

Part of our large format wall art collection, we present Abstract Tail Number 1. Three blocks of Western Red Cedar are joined together, with the darkest piece in the center to simulate the heartwood core of a tree. Sweeping lines branching off of curving spines give the illusion of tail feathers fanning into position. The carvings is aligned in a way to incorporate the knots as though they were the spots of a peacocks plumage. Please note, the knots are stabilized with an epoxy filler combined with sawdust from the piece. This ensures that they remain fixed for the life of this piece. Finished with two coats of sealer and five coats of satin lacquer each buffed down to give amazing clarity and sheen to the piece. This piece is mounting gallery box style in a solid black walnut frame with an ebony resin spanning the shadow groove.
