The main attraction of the broochis dark purple amethyst, probably from old Russian mines.The amethyst measures 1" (26 mm) X 13/16" (21 mm),or approx. 30 carat weight. It is set with delicate prongs intobeautifully designed floral motif frameembellished with natural pearls.,topped with 3-loop bow. The whole brooch measures 1 5/8" (41 mm) X 1" (25 mm)The closure is a C claspwith needle on tubular hinge - typical for Victorian era. There are no hallmarks, tested sterling silver.Total weight is 14.6 grams. Excellent antique condition commensurate with age.Silver covered with beautiful antique patina.
