Presented is a fabulous pair of Irish sterling silver bowls from 1775. This pair displays a pierced oval design around the raised sides and a similar pierced decoration on the foot. The foot has a great gadroon detail and a chased floral edge. The center of each bowl displays a crest of a lion head. This likely represents the Markham family in Dublin. Irish hallmarks: the harp and crown mark for sterling silver, the Hibernia mark for Dublin, and the date letter C representing 1775. There is also a maker's mark for John Lloyd, and an MC mark that we are unable to identify, possibly a retailer. The pair is in superb overall condition, especially considering age. There are no breaks, no repairs, and no problems of any kind. Measurements: 7 1/2 inches in diameter, and 3 5/8 inches tall Total Weight: 710.5 grams or 25 ounces -kc
