Presented is a rare antique Irish sterling silver toast rack from 1787. This piece displays six places for toast and a small handle on top of the center wire. The rack stands on 4 feet. There is a crest on either side of the top handle. One side displays a demi-eagle coming out of a crown, likely representing the Casey family in Dublin. The other side shows two armored arms holding up a lion's head also coming out of a crown. This one we are unable to identify the family. This piece is hallmarked with full Irish Hallmarks: the harp and crown mark for sterling silver, the Hibernia mark for Dublin, and the date letter P representing 1787. There is also a maker's mark that is hard to identify, it might be JP for John Pittar. This piece is in good overall condition, especially considering age. All of the wire has been re-soldered to the base, likely to reinforce the piece. There is also a solder repair on the underside of the piece, which is shown in the photos. Measurements: 7 1/4 inches
