Antique Graduated Amber Bead Strand Necklace w/ Silver Filigree Clasp

Presented is a fascinating amber bead necklace, with a sterling silver filigree clasp. This necklace dates to around the early 1900s, while we are unsure of the origin. The necklace consists of graduated round amber beads, ranging in size from 17.5 millimeters in diameter to 13.3 millimeters in diameter. The beads are a rich mellow orange, with natural striation and mottling. The necklace has a hook and plunge style clasp in gold washed sterling silver filigree. The necklace is in great condition. The amber beads are in good shape, with no chips, cracks or losses. There are some very minor surface irregularities here and there, as is to be expected from a natural, organic material. The clasp functions well and closes securely. We believe this necklace has been restrung The clasp is stamped and guaranteed sterling.
