Gorgeous Graduated Amber Bead Strand Necklace w/ 14k Gold Filigree Clasp

Presented is a fascinating amber bead necklace, with a 14 karat gold clasp. This necklace dates to the early 1900s, while we are unsure of the origin. The necklace consists of graduated oval amber beads, ranging in size from 3/8 of an inch by 1/4 of an inch to 1 1/4 of an inch by 7/8 of an inch. The beads are a rich mellow orange, with natural striation and mottling. The beads are individually knotted for additional security. The cord looks original, or at the very least is quite old. The necklace has a cylindrical tab insert style clasp. The necklace is in great condition. The amber beads are in good shape, with no chips, cracks or losses. There are some surface irregularities here and there, as is to be expected from a natural, organic material such as amber. The clasp functions well and closes securely. The clasp is stamped and guaranteed 14k. The necklace is about 34 inches long, not including the tongue of the clasp, which does not contribute to the overall length when worn.
