Best of the Winter Squash Introduced in 1913, Table Queen Acorn Squash is still a favorite today. Plants have a compact vining habit and are very prolific, producing acorn-shaped fruits weighing at around 1 pound. The forest-green rinds and bright-yellow fruit of this winter squash will fully ripen just before the first frost. The flesh is dense and sweet with a rich nutty taste. We enjoy it best simply sliced in half, gutted and roasted in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper. A delight! GARDEN HINTS: Leave on vine until fully mature. Harvest before frost, leaving part of the stem attached to the fruit. Store for winter use at 45-55 F in a dry place. Cucurbita pepo Days to Harvest: 85 Packet contains a minimum of 20 seeds
