Bodegas Olivares Altos de la Hoya Monastrell 2022 (Jumilla, Spain)

As Spain’s winemaking revolution matures, Jumilla continues to produce great value wines. The region’s native Monastrell- Mourvèdre elsewhere-produces rich red wine on account of the reliably hot, dry summers; this particular vineyard, at 825 meters above sea level, provides contrast with its cool nights, bringing freshness and balance to the palate.Concentrated dark berry fruit, rosemary, and a little bit of pepper define the nose and palate. Nice acidity and fleshy tannins blend together to create a wine with significant substance that’s just plain nice to drink. Give it 15-30 minutes of air if you want softer tannins.
