Clos des Fous 'Pour Ma Gueule' Red Blend 2021 (Itata, Chile)

Clos des Fous was founded by four friends (Pedro Parra, Francois Massoc, Paco Leyton, and Albert Cussen) in 2008 who were tired of hearing that Chilean wine was all boring, industrial, green and overripe. Their idea was to create exciting wines from grapes grown in extreme terroir with minimal intervention.  And, voila, here we have one of those wines!   The 'Pour Ma Gueule' (which literally translates to "for my face,” a slangy french saying referring to a wine so good the winemaker saves it for personal consumption) is blend of 85% Cinsault, 8% Pais, and 5% Malbec and 2% Carignan. We get notes of juicy red fruit and fresh, tender herbs with just a hint of earthy tobacco and a clean minerality on the finish.
