Mary Taylor Lucia Ferreira Dão Tinto 2019 (Dão, Portugal)
Winemaker Lucia Ferreira (whose brother, Filipe, also makes wine up in the Douro Valley) produces this blend of 60% Touriga Nacional and 40% Tinta Roriz from the highest vines in the Dão region- and in fact all of Portugal! The altitude and climate of this mountainous region give her wines such a distinct character- elegant and firm yet fresh and supremely drinkable. You’ll definitely want to give this bottle some air- we’re suggesting at least an hour of decanting- but after it opens up we get lovely notes of both red and dark fruits and toasty spices. The ripe fruit and burly tannins are accompanied by a refined acidity which makes this wine incredibly versatile and complex. Food Ideas: Meatloaf, teriyaki beef, pork with butter beans & chorizo, falafel shawarma, fish yassa, arroz de pato (duck rice) ABV: 13.5%
