Monte Tondo Corvina del Veneto 2023 (Veneto, Italy)
Almost exclusively grown in the Veneto region, the unassuming Corvina grape often gets lost in the wines it’s usually blended into, namely Valpolicella, Amarone, and Bardolino. While it is indeed an invaluable workhorse in these famous blends, we think Corvina has a lot to say in its own right, and this bottle by Monte Tondo is a shining example of that! On the nose we get bright red and black fruit notes with a dusting of black pepper. The naturally high acidity of this grape is balanced by the fruit and a slight savouriness and supple tannins that makes for a wonderfully well rounded glass of wine. Try it with a slight chill and some charcuterie! Food Ideas: Venetian shrimp with polenta, Thai coconut salmon curry, garden-fresh bruschetta, gnocchi Bolognese ABV: 12.5%
