Mary Taylor Olivier Gessler Côtes de Gascogne Rouge 2020 (Côtes de Gascogne, France)
First settling in Gascony from Switzerland in 1928, the Gessler family is now in their fourth generation of winemaking. Now certified sustainable and practicing organic, they cultivate the red clay soils where they tend to the indigenous varietals of the region. Less than 10% of the wines produced in Gascony are red, so this little 500ml bottle is quite special. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah is aged in large stainless steel tanks and sees no oak. A little bit of grip and excellent earthiness meet a burst of ripe dark fruit and spice. Give this one a little bit of air to smooth out those tannins and enjoy! Food Ideas: Cassoulet, cornish pasties, frisee aux lardons, pan fried trout meuniere with potatoes, Gaperon cheese and cured meats, white beans Provençal ABV: 14%
