The family of winemakers at Castello di Querceto (meaning “Castle of the Oaks” for the oak forest amidst which their vines lie) boasts an impressive history in the region: not only did they help form the Consorzio del Chianti Classico, the oldest Consortium of wine producers in Italy — they also played a critical role in the Tuscan “new wave”, incorporating international varietals in what we now call Super Tuscans. This wine is a more modest affair: a decidedly lighter approach to the Chianti style, with Canaiolo and Trebbiano added to bolster the Sangiovese’s acidity and soften its tannins, this wine pours a gorgeous ruby red in the glass. We get sour cherry, fresh herbs, and, forest earth - super versatile with food! Alcohol: 12.5%
