Autumn Corn Harvest Cat Picture
From time to time I am able to find wonderful paintings that depict seasonal themes that I reproduce enhanced by an accented frame. These pictures are just a delight as they are small enough to fit just about anywhere, are inexpensive and capture each season lending a slight folk art appearance. This beautiful scene captures the harvest of corn placed in a tipped over bushel basket with a darling folk art cat keeping a watchful eye out for an indulging hungry mouse. Her peeking stance gives us a clue that she is ready to pounce as soon as the opportunity presents itself but alas the mouse is too fast for her and runs for safety! Each kernel of corn was painstakingly painted by a patient artist (“Ruedette”) and was very well done. I backed the picture with warm and natural cotton while harvest gold burlap was placed underneath. Old tacks were used as a decorative touch gracing all four corners and the custom frame was fashioned from lath lending a red wash hue. A separate piece of wood
