My all-time favorite. Without a doubt, this is my go-to for any new stillwater situation. Is it original? No.   Is it complex?No. Will it impress the fly fish snobs?...No. Do I care?. No.       Why? Because it catches fish... almost everywhere and almost anything. It's a classic for a reason. It's just a wolly bugger, really that's all it is, but it works.  It can be fished on almost any type of line from floating to Full sink lines to accommodate a plethora of different options that it could possibly imitate. I tie mine with a gold cone head to expand the possibilities throughout the water column.  I'll generally use this fly and vary retrieve rates before making a switch or matching something I see more specifically.
