We have found the OEM seals on these last 4-8 years before they deteriorate and literally crumble. We spend the money and go the extra mile to ensure we do a great job and that the rebuilt unit that leaves our facility will out live the OEM by 20 or so years.  If your actuator is in rough shape but mechanically still intact we may want to sandblast and epoxy coat the cylinder to it stays fresh in whatever environment you're in. This process is very intensive and takes about 3-5 days. Using a special epoxy formulated for bare metal surfaces is the best protection you can get in the industry.
