Gen1 uses a pressed in wiper seal and the Gen2 uses a recessed dual action wiper seal.  If you order the the wrong generation style we will do an exchange for this as it can be difficult to tell what style you have if you are not a hydraulics expert.  Sending Pictures of the End caps / Glands to us will help us identify what you have and what you need.  This kit rebuilds the standard Sea Star steering Cylinder HC4645H HC4648H HC4658H, we used all Viton seals for this kit as Viton is a super material and costs 15 times more than other NBR or Urethane materials and last 2-3 times as long, Viton was Formulated by Dupont it is a Synthetic Rubber which resists Oxidation, UV Rays, Solvents, Acids and ozone on paper the working life of this material
