Pluma Negra Tobalá Mezcal
A traditionally-made complex Mezcal you should definitely sip neat. Cultured Spirits was founded in 2018 in San Juan del Río, Oaxaca, Mexico. Their mission is to deliver outstanding Spirits crom across Latin American and around the world, but right now their two brands come from their own backyard in central Mexico — Pluma Negra Mezcals and Cihuatán Rums. And their company is committed to green initiatives with 1% of their annual sales being donated to environmental causes. The Pluma Negra, or “black feather”, line features 4 bottles: the white and black label Mezcal Espadín, the Tobalá, and the Tepeztate. Pluma Negra Tobalá Mezcal is crafted from wild Tobalá agave that grows at 3,800 to 5,000ft and takes 8-12 years to mature. Once fully matured, their masterful Maestro Mezcalero takes it from there and employs traditional methods to get the best of the agave. It’s harvested by hand with machetes, the hearts are cooked in earth ovens and air fermented for 8-15 days in pine barrels.
