New Irati AA Kenya
Sweet Tarts | Floral | Tropical Fruit | Cola Region: Kigumo Elevation: 1500-1650 MASL Varietals: Ruiru 11, SL34, SL28 Process: Washed Roast: Light The Coffee: A heavy bodied, multi-varietal coffee this one comes from Kigumo, Kenya. Roasted light with short development we note candied lemon, sweet tarts, tropical fruits, florality, cola, and caramel. A cup that epitomizes the classic Kenyan profile. Sweet up front and a heavy body that rounds out with a snap of pleasant citrus acidity, we love this coffee as a drip/pour over brew or a short 3 minute immersion in the press or siphon. The Producer: This AA selection comes from the New Irati Factory in Kigumo, Kenya where they mill coffee for the Kangiri Farmer’s Cooperative Society. New Irati works with 600 smallholder lots with roughly 150 hectares of land (equivalent to about 1/2 acre per farmer). Small production, high quality.
