Excerpt Preview: In our last session we started off by making a very sharp distinction between two different approaches to understanding and presenting astrological material. One of them was theory and the other one, practice. In order to understand a chart theoretically, it is imperative for us to recognize where the most fundamental unresolved issues, psychological issues, karmic issues, essentially distortions, might exist within that consciousness. And so we are recognizing at a theoretical level that every soul comes into the world with a certain evolutionary task, a certain set of experiences. Every soul comes into this world with a certain set of tools, shall we say, for a particular job. The tools are what we would commonly recognize as our talents, the personality, the predilections of our nature. And then each soul has that core job that they've come here to do, that evolutionary step that they're trying to take, using that tool. And then the third vector is that the use of the tools, the right use of the tools, can so easily be twisted or distorted or confused by places where we're wounded from our childhoods, from our karma, all the various sources of woundedness and blindness. So we have that whole matrix that lies right in the core of theoretical understanding.
