Trio of Organic Black Surinam Cherries

In Jay Ruskey's tropical fruit forest in Goleta, we have a super small and special harvest of a rare Black Surinam (Pitanga) Cherries. If you're familiar with Surinam cherry or Pitanga, this is a less common smooth-skin/un-ribbed variety. Jay has just one tree and the harvest is small but special. These dark red to dark black fruit are sweet, intensely flavorful with high tannins. The pit in the middle is reminiscent of the more familiar sweet cherry.  These plants are commonly found growing along the Atlantic coast and coastal rainforests of Brazil. Grown in Goleta, CA.
