1780 PR Large Silver Coin Bolivia 8 Reales Carlos III Of Spain Mint Mark PTS XF+
Description: A nice extremely fine or much better 1780 PTS P.R. Bolivian silver coin. This is the Carlos (Charles) III 8 Reales depicting the bust of King Charles I the third of Spain facing right on the obverse. The obverse of this large, silver dollar size coin, has the legend "CAROLUS.III.DEI.GRATIA" surrounding the king's bust and the date 1780 below it. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain between pillars of Hercules with the legend "HESPAN.ET IND.REX" followed by the mint mark as a monogrammed "PTS.8 R. P.R." all surrounding the arms. These coins were used extensively in the US before the silver dollars were circulated. The coin is extremely fine to about uncirculated with some luster and shows all the details very well.
