1990 Lancaster County Carved Wood Polychrome Painted Folk Art Pig Sow by Menno
Description: A beautiful wood carved and polychrome painted primitive American Folk Art female pig or sow standing on all four with her snout sniffing the ground. The flat carving shows a brown and pink colored sow with pink teats and a brown and pink tail. The sow is standing on a green colored flat base. The female pig has a pink snout and mouth detailed with carved lines and dark brown ears. Additionally, the sow has eyes that are also carved and are painted in white with brown and black centers. Just a very interesting and highly decorative folk-art primitive carving. The pig is affixed to the base with nails and the base itself is marked with the artist's name and date. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.Date: 1990.Origin: Purchased in an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Made in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.Size: Base measures ~10 1/2" by ~3 1/2", while the pig itself is ~6 1/2" high and is ~1/2" wide. The piece weighs sligh
