1992 Glazed Redware Egg Glazed Yellow and Brown Butterfly and Flowers Sgraffito Design by Lester Breininger
Description: A nice size redware egg made by Lester Breininger. The glazed egg is beautifully decorated with a sgraffito design showing a butterfly flying in the midst of pink flowers. The butterfly is brown with blue spots on a yellow background on top with green sponged highlights. The bottom of the egg has a flattened base and is brown in color. The egg is signed "B + LB PA 1992" for Barbara and Lester Breininger 1992, on the flat surface where it sits. The PA for Pennsylvania is within a keystone, which is the symbol for Pennsylvania. This egg was obviously made by the master potter himself and decorated by his wife. A relatively uncommon occurrence. This is a very nice redware egg with a beautiful Easter or spring design and colors. The egg is entirely glazed and looks great. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
