Description: A hand carved and polychrome painted wood American Folk Art bird. The carving, which we believe was done in Berks County Pennsylvania, has wire legs and is mounted on a salvaged turned knob. The bird, which is a great example of Pennsylvania Dutch folk art, has two greenish-gray wings and a yellow body with black highlights throughout. The bird has two black eyes and black highlights for feathers in the wing, the tail, and the under-body. The knob is brown in color and has a hole in the center of the bottom. A great piece of folk art to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain but most likely mid 1900s (mid 20th century). Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. We believe the piece was made in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
