This is extremely important when installing reverse osmosis canisters because they need to slide when being seated. It is also imperative that they are not over-tightened. Oftentimes during installation, the O-rings are not lubricated they tend to leak because the O-ring can get bunched up. Additionally, the canister can be over-tightened which can cause the threads to separate from the canister.
