
IVSOM Caixa, 6 strings, aluminum shell, 12" x 7.5"
Six string, aluminum body caixas are flying off the shelves! This Brazilian percussion instrument is one of the lighter weight caixas and has a little more buzzy sound than it’s sister drum, 4 string aluminum caixa. These instruments are really classy and beautiful. The shell of the drum is shiny aluminum, and the hardware is a nice brassy color. Everybody can see that this is an IVSOM drum by the look. Parades can feel very very long. However the aluminum shell reduces the overall weight of the drum. The last ½ mile of the parade and the last ½ hour of rehearsals just might feel a little shorter. Straps Typically a shoulder strap is used to carry this caixa while playing. The drum will hang at an angle while you play using “traditional grip”. Some of the drums manufactured in Asia, and are readily available in the US are too shallow and will flop forward on your body while playing. This drives me crazy. All of these IVSOM caixas are deep enough to keep this from happening. Need a
