“Use only the freshest ingredients!” That was grandma’s advice for making fruitcake more than 100 years ago, and it still holds true today.  “Grandma’s Fruitcake evolved from a family recipe that found its way from Germany to America.  In 1917, the Lantz brothers (original owners of Grandma’s Fruitcake) discovered their grandmother’s favorite fruitcake recipe and offered the cake in their bakery in St. Louis, Missouri.  Her recipe called for a combination of ripe fancy cherries, fresh succulent pineapple, plump raisins, crunchy almonds, walnuts, and seedling pecans and just the right amount of bourbon, rum, and brandy – in addition to a secret baking method.  Since 1964 our bakers at Beatrice Bakery have been following Grandma’s advice – using only the freshest ingredients and her special baking process to create the world’s best-tasting fruitcakes!
