Royal Crown Mikado Collection Series

     This beautiful, Bone China saucer is made by Royal Crown Derby Company in their famous Mikado series. The inspiration was derived from rice paper drawings form the Far East  The original Mikado patterns was redesigned by the art director Thomas A. Reed at the Royal Crown Derby, who was inspired by the rice paper drawings. The Oriental taste has been popular at the Royal Crown Derby form the time it was founded in 1748. The intricate scenes tell a romantic story, with each small porcelain ware design is one chapter of the story based on the Mikado Opera story. That is set on a beautifully backdrop of rivers, mountains, and/or delicate leaf tracery on the tradition blue and white colors ware, Later it was produced in multi-color version and a variety of monochrome colors. A variety of prints has appeared over the years with the gold print on a rich yellow background being the rarest ware in the series.
