Akebono Cherry Tree

Tree (Prunus × yedoensis ‘Akebono’) is one of the largest and most disease-resistant flowering cherry trees. An upright form when young but with age, the branches gradually attain a symmetrically weeping spread that cascades fragrance and light pink blossoms. A hybrid, Akebono is able to combine and display the best qualities of its parent varieties, like the incredible disease resistance of the Oshima Cherry and the weeping form of the Pendula Cherry. The blossoms of Akebono even display both colors of their parent varieties, opening a pure white and gradually taking on a light rosy-pink hue before dropping.
