The Nantahala Red Raspberry (Rubus 'Nantahala') is a strong primocane vigorous plant, canes have few thorns making berries easier to harvest. Fruit is large in size (diameter of a quarter), highly attractive red color with superior flavor. Fruit is firm, very attractive, uniform and conical to ovate. Consistent heavy yields of berries for eating fresh, canning, jams, jellies and pies. Late season Raspberry cultivar ripening to follow ‘Heritage’.  Fun Fact: In the Cherokee language, `Nantahala` means "land of the midday sun" Pollination: Self-fertile, plant more than one to maximize fruit production.  Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well drained nutrient-rich soil.  Harvest time: Early summer (June), abundant fall harvest (September). Nantahala can be harvested later in the season than other industry standard primocane-fruiting varieties. Raspberries ripen in stages as the plants produce blooms and develop berries, it's best to harvest the ripe raspberries twice or more a week.
