The Dwarf Burford Holly (Ilex cornuta) is a broad leaf evergreen. This is a foundation hedge that is also known as Chinese Holly. Burford has small deep green glossy leaves and develops ornamental red berries in fall. Easily maintained once established and pruning to maintain shape should occur in early spring before new growth begins to appear. Buford is a good selection for the deep South due to its tolerance for heat and periods of drought. Prune in winter if needed.  Prefers full sun to part shade (in hot summers). Plant in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils.
