The Kieffer Pear Tree (Pyrus communis x P. pyrifolia) is a popular Pear cultivator since the 1870's, a cross between sand Pear and Bartlett Pear. Features simple leaves that are glossy green, have fine teeth on the margin and provide golden bronze fall color. Grows in an oval to rounded shape. Blooms late in the season with white flowers, then produces large, long, golden yellow fruit with a cherry blush. The flesh is crisp, white a bit coarse. A great choice for canning, preserves and baking. An early producer, continuing dependably for many years. Tolerates hot climates. Pick while the fruit is still hard and store in a cool place. Keeps for weeks when refrigerated. Kieffer grows at a fast rate, with height increases of more than 24" per year. Space 15-20' when planting.  Kieffer is a mid to late season bearer, harvests in mid September, to mid October. Kieffer is self pollinating. Kieffer and Bartlett are suitable pollinators, for increased productionKieffer require up to 350-400 ch
