The Kwanzan Cherry Tree (Prunus serrulata 'Kwanzan') has double pink flowers and a vase-shaped form with a rounded crown that spreads with age, making the tree wider than it is tall at maturity. The new leaves are bronze colored, turning to dark green then yellow, orange or copper in fall. This is a fruitless cultivar. Grows at a medium rate, with height increases of 13–24" per year. Prefers full sun, Plant in acidic, alkaline, loamy, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils, the tree is somewhat drought-tolerant, will not tolerate standing water or over watering.
